Workshops

Trends and Figures: 2011 Census and implications for the Chinese Canadian Churches (Enoch Wong)
This workshop attempts to review the highlights of 2011 National Household Survey’s findings on Chinese Canadian population as well as Chinese Canadian Christian demographics across Canada. With the statistics as well as the projection at hand, this workshop then discusses what the potential future issues of the Chinese Canadian Churches may face in capitalizing the opportunities the projection suggests.

Staying and Leaving (Enoch Wong)
This worship attempts to explore the implications of the findings of “Hemorrhaging Faith” Study by Evangelical Fellowship of Canada from the perspective of Chinese Canadian churches. Focus would be placed on how these findings can be related to the immigrant church setting and the local-born generation.

Missional Church Planting: Insights from M1-M5 Church Planting Models for Chinese Churches in Canada (Colin Godwin)
What is hindering your church in intercultural and intergenerational outreach? This workshop explores the linguistic, cultural and intergenerational aspects of Chinese Canadian church planting with tools originally designed to understand global church planting among Muslims. Discussion groups will have the opportunity to diagnose the impact of power relationships on equality, inclusion and exclusion in their evangelistic efforts.

Missional Church Planting: the secret recipe for thriving church planters (Colin Godwin)
The burnout rate for church planters is considered to be the greatest obstacle to exponential church growth. This interactive workshop will explore the secret recipe that develops the church planters that can plant multiple successful new churches.

Between two worlds: Raising up 3rd Culture Kids (Colin Godwin)
“There is a stranger living under my own roof!” The challenges faced by youth who grow up in multicultural environments are extreme. Drawing from his life overseas and personal experience as an immigrant, Dr. Godwin examines the challenges of Canadian Chinese youth in light of the growing body of global literature on “Third Culture Kids”.

Releasing the Potential of 3rd Culture Kids (Colin Godwin)
God is preparing your multicultural children to change the world. Allowing God to release the potential of 3rd Culture kids involves a spiritual journey of both parent and child. Will you embark on that journey?
